3-6 Month Baby Supplies

At 3 months old, we’ve already learned so much about our little girl’s personality! Such as, she loves being held upright, and she hates being cold. Below are some items that we’ve enjoyed for this stage. It’s hard to believe that she’s already outgrown some of her newborn items, and that she’s being more interactive every day!

Electric Nail File

  • Another shout out to my neighbor Lisa for introducing me to a baby nail file! I was filing our baby’s nails with a regular emery board (which is totally fine!) and she still manages to scratch her face.
  • Turns out this problem was two-fold.
    • The first part is that her nails grow every day and though I was filing them down frequently, they were actually still kind of pointy on the corners.
    • Secondly, our pediatrician told us that the drool from her mouth can dry out her cheeks/chin/lower face (similar to how licking your lips doesn’t moisturize them but makes them more dry), so her face is dry and she wants to scratch it. (I also put baby lotion on her face twice a day now.)
  • Cue the electric baby nail file! Literally a life saver! It’s fast, effective, and doesn’t bother baby. It’s less than $20 and will from now on be my next go-to baby shower gift 🙂

Sleep Sack

  • Now that we’ve transitioned from the swaddle, baby girl loves the Kyte Baby Sleep Sacks. They come in a variety of thicknesses (measured in “TOG”). We have one of each thickness, because it helps to have options based on the temperature of the room or the season. (In winter, her room is freezing!)

Drinking Up

  • Now our baby is drinking 4-6 ounces and the 4-ounce bottles are cutting it anymore. Plus, the daycare won’t let you bring glass bottles, so we purchased these 9-Ounce Phillips Avent Bottles. We like them because they don’t have a lot of parts, are easy to throw in the dishwasher, and they screw into my Spectra pump. Also, fun fact, the circle Minted label stickers fit perfectly into the circle indention on the bottle. This works perfectly for labeling the bottles for daycare.

Hot Bottles on the Go

We still love our Phillips Avent Fast Baby Bottle Warmer for home or when we go on vacations, but for going out and about around town, we invested in a Baby’s Brew. The Avent Warmer works much quicker, so you definitely need a fast bottle warmer in your home, but the Baby’s Brew is perfect for when we’re at a restaurant, at the park, or in the car. It’s portable and the Phillips Avent Bottles screw in perfectly. (Look at their website to see if your bottles need an adapter or not.)

Age Appropriate Toys

I noticed that our 3-month baby was ready for a little more stimulation than we had given her in the newborn stage. Her vision is much clearer and her face lights up when I walk in the room and smile at her from about 4 feet away. She laughs when I laugh or tickle her tummy, and she has her own way of inviting me to play with her. At first, it was hard to decide what should we do during play time? Since as a newborn I would sing to her, hold her in front of a window (her personal favorite), or just rock her.

Of course every baby is different, but Charlotte has loved her play gym at this stage! Just a few weeks ago, she just kind of stared at the dangling toys, but now she reaches for them and rings the bells! She can stay there for almost a full 30 minutes and never get bored. It’s become part of our morning routine for her to play in her play gym while I fix her a bottles for day care, empty her diaper pail, tidy her room up, and throw her clothes in the washer. It’s been so nice to be in the room with her and talk to her, but I can actually get some things done too!

We like the Ingenuity Cozy Spot Play Gym. It also folds up for travel. There are more scandinavian all-wooden play gyms out there, as well as ones that are more colorful. Pick the one that’s best for you! And again, check Facebook marketplace for deals!

We also bought the same baby lounger that she has at school, because she doesn’t love the SnuggleMe anymore, since it just lays flat and it makes her face the ceiling. This new lounger props her up so she can see the world! It’s like $40 on Amazon, and it’s a a good size that appears to fit a 3 to 6-month old well! Here is a picture of Charlotte loving her new lounger! You can see she’s also engaging with fun soft toys and teething rings! (The pink worked best with our nursery, but it also comes in a more neutral gray!) She also still likes her bouncy seat.

Baby Clothing

  • Our baby has already grown out of her newborn clothes and hats, and since she’s a winter baby, we try to keep her in long sleeves, long pants, and socks at all times. For her clothes for day care, I like the sale rack at Carter’s in the store, as well as Target, Walmart, Old Navy, and Buy Buy Baby.
  • I also have found that Facebook marketplace has TONS of moms who are giving away Newborn to 6 month size of clothes. Literally for free or a whole bundle for $10. These are great for daycare! And I know that those babies only wore these outfits a handful of times.
  • I also have found good deals on eBay, specifically Halo sleepsacks and Feltman heirloom dresses, and KidToKid Consignment store in Brentwood.
  • I usually put her in little zippered footies, so that we don’t have to worry about her socks falling off, and the zipper makes for easy diaper changes. Right now she’s in a size 0-3 month.

  • For a little bit more of a splurge, I get the Kyte Baby Zippered Footies, these are so stretchy, soft, and so easy to change a diaper! I ordered some in every size, so she’ll always have some as she grows. Their colors for boys are amazing, but they also have good gender-neutral and a few girl colors.

For cute clothes, I go to Southern Smocked Company or Cecil and Lou online, or the Plaid Rabbit in Nashville or Helen’s Young Ages in Jackson, MS.
