First time at the pool

Our baby had her first trip to the pool during our trip to 30A. We loved pulling her around in the lazy river at Camp Watercolor. I had no idea how she was going to react, but she absolutely loved the water! She was a little confused at first, but soon warmed up to the idea. We had brought a lot of gear, and she loved her life jacket the best!

We took our little girl to the pool at 6 months old and these worked really well…

Infant Life Jacket

Look for life jackets approved by the US coast guard for 30 pounds or less. Also, we chose one with a “pillow” to support her head. Our life jacket is made by Stearns, and was sold on Amazon. It has a zipper down the back and two leg straps.

Swimways Infant Float

We love this baby bassinet! I bought it because I didn’t know if she would be too little to have her legs poking through into the water with the more traditional baby float.

The only problem with this float was that after she was already wet from the pool, she got cold just sitting on top of the water in the shade. We ended up taking the shade off and using her hat instead. She also couldn’t fit in it with the life jacket on, but it still has straps. It’s nice and portable, and it’s easy to inflate. Our baby prefers the life jacket over this though. This is sold at Amazon and Target.

As for baby accessories we are huge fans of ruffle butts little girls one pieces! They have long sleeves so you don’t have to worry about sunscreening their arms, and they have snaps at the bottom for easy diaper changes!

And we use Baby Bum Sunscreen. A pediatrician told us to give her a bath after she spends time in chlorine because her baby skin is so sensitive!
